Denise Thompson is pretty great

So I’ve been entertaining this new thing for the last few months. Exercise. Seriously.

This past January, I had the pleasure of meeting Denise Thompson, of Prestige Fit. Through many acquaintances, her praises had become like a song that I was now unable to get out of my head. My “spideys”, if you will, told me that our paths would eventually cross. When they finally did, it became clear to me that she had been put before me for a reason (many actually), and I was not going to let this opportunity go to waste. We really hit it off; she is a lovely and intelligent woman with a heart of gold, and an ass of steel. Her personality and confidence gave me comfort, and I mustered the courage to ask if I could maybe start training with her. She, of course agreed, and a date for my first session was booked before I had time to have a second thought. I immediately asked myself “WHAT WERE YOU THINKING”?!? All my years of couch and channel surfing had lead me to this moment, and now I was so painfully frightened of failure, and quite honestly pain.

One of the greatest and most overused sayings of our time has become “no pain, no gain”. I get it now.

I, for the most part, have the food thing down. I eat well and have maintained a body that I have not necessarily been unhappy with. As I am now getting a bit older, I have noticed that food intake is no longer the only answer to weight loss and shape. Exercise is something that I have contemplated and half heartedly tried many times. My father has been an athlete for all time, and I have always admired his tenacity; He would run in the blistering heat of the summer, and then come home to do what seemed like a million push-ups and sit-ups. As a little girl I even remember sitting on his back while he did those push-ups. Now that I know what it is to do a push-up, I can assure you that I would not entertain a child’s request for that ride.

For the first time in my life I have committed and followed through on exercise, and it is beginning to show. More importantly, I feel strong and empowered in ways that only others who are also a part of this secret club can understand. Some days are more difficult than others, but it is always worth it. On my days when I am my strongest, I leave the gym doing a John Travolta-esque strut. On the days that I struggle, I leave feeling empowered for having shown up and grateful for such a coach, and friend. Denise is my great motivator, as I have had difficulty with propelling myself at times. I am only just beginning to see the light, and I love how it feels on my red sweaty face.

Coming up next week, Denise is offering a 3 month bootcamp package. This lady is worth every second of your time. YOU are worth every second of your time. Call her, and then start bikini shopping online ;-)
